April 11, 2011 - Longpool Falls and Pams Grotto
April 12, 2011 - Bowman's Hollow (off Hwy 123)
I saw a drainage the previous day I really wanted to check out and with a couple hours to spare I decided to investigate. Its a nice hike and well worth it the stop if your going up to Pams Grotto or Haw Creek Falls. There are probably some taller falls up higher but those likely will be best accessed from the road above. There were some great high flow low height falls and cascades.
April 13, 2011
I hiked up a drainage of Cole Creek off of Hwy 103 ( 35°36'11.23"N 93°34'49.34"W) and found several nice waterfalls culminating in a nice 30-35ft waterfall. That last one had a huge ammount of loose rock debris below it. I may have to check it after a major flood since it could probably add up to 50ft of height to itself it could just wash that stuff out. I came pretty close to the private land but wouldnt be surprised if there is another fall between the last falls and the beginning of the private land. There are certainly more waterfalls in the area ( i already found one nice one here last year at 35°36'14.37"N 93°35'15.76"W thats of similiar height).
April 15, 2011 - Storm chase from near Ada, OK back to Ozark, AR.
I was in/on a tornado warned storm for something like 5 hours. At one point I was surrounded on all sides by tornadic supercells! The daytime portion of the chase was best with several nice wall cloud and great rotation. I was on the storms just north of the Tushka supercell and could easily have made it down there (<10 min) but had prior arrangements to meet a tv crew in Wilburton. After dark, I chased into Eastern Oklahoma and played around with back edge of a couple strong areas of rotation. RFD winds out of N/NE were really strong for what seemed like hours. I made it just out in front of the line in Arkansas in time for the rotation areas to move to the front of the line but I managed to get through it.
April 16, 2011 - White Oak Fall running great!
